The Housatonic Model Railway Club layout broadly followed what the Housatonic Railroad (which was swallowed by the New Haven in the 1890s) might have looked like in the 1950s, had it remained independent.

Mostly sceniced in fall colors, the layout used state-of-the art design, modeling, and operating techniques, with a walk-around plan designed for scenery and operations. The club implemented Digital Command Control.

Operating nights were held most months, sometimes featuring different eras using member equipment. Construction continued up to getting our notice to leave, continually improving the railroad’s appearance.
